MAX3MIN 3RD EDITION

The programme for the 2023 festival will be made up of 70 short films from all over the world. 
 

The titles selected come from 37 different countries and are divided into two sections:

50 will be competing for the prizes in the International Competition 

20 films have been selected for the NEXT GEN award, the prize for the best short films from film schools all over the world.

INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION

For the International Competition, we screen films of every kind, on any topic whatsoever, from any country in the world with constant attention to the different geographic origins and pluralities of cultures. Fiction, animation, videoclips, advertising, digital art, documentary and mockumentary… for a festival that is constantly looking for experimentation, ideas, contamination and stimuli.

The jury of the International Competition will be made up of: Giacomo Abbruzzese, director and winner of the Silver Bear at the 2023 Berlinale with his first feature film, Disco Boy; Martina Melilli, a director and multidisciplinary artist; Luca Pacilio, journalist and curator; Simone Angelini, cartoon artist and illustrator; Lara Casirati, festival strategist for the distribution company Varicoloured, as well as a festival programmer and selector.

NEXT GEN

Alongside the International Competition, the NEXT GEN prize is back, dedicated to the best short film by students at film schools and academies all over the world, with the aim of encouraging the study of moving images, by giving the aspiring directors a concrete opportunity to take part in an international competition.

The jury of NEXT GEN will be made up of the staff of the Ukrainian LINOLEUM Contemporary Animation and Media Art Festival: Yulia Kuznietsova, curator and feature film programmer, Anna Ignatova, curator of the programme for children; Zhanna Ozirna, curator of the programme of the international competition and Anastasiya Verlinska, director of the festival.

BLACKBALL PROFESSIONAL SECTION

The two competitions are joined by a new section dedicated to professionals, in collaboration with the Blackball production company, specialized in advertising and a partner of the third edition of the festival. Therefore, there is also room for short films which, like an advertising product, are able to curate the technical aspect and the visual result, without sacrificing  the creative line. A new test focused on crafting, which aims to connect Blackball with young new professionals from all over the world, laying down the foundations for future collaborations, opening a door into the world of work for them.

The third jury will be that of the production companyBlackBall, specialized in advertising and partner of this third year of the festival, which – after a dedicated competition announcement -  will award a prize to the best film from the point of view of the technical aspects and visual result, at the same time without sacrificing the creative line. This jury will be made up of Lorenzo Cefis, founder of the BlackBall advertising agency; Matteo Gastel, photographer and Giulia Peruzzotti, editor.
